How to find your Wifi Password on Windows 10

Sometimes you get confused when someone asks for your wifi password but you can not remember. Today I will show you 3 ways to find your saved wifi password on Windows 10:

1. Find your wifi password using windows GUI

In order to find your wifi password on windows 10 you can follow 5 below steps:

Step 1: Right-click on the network icon on the toolbar and select “Open Network & Internet setting

Step 2: On Wifi Tab, Click to “Change adapter options

Step 3: Right-click on the Wifi icon and select “Status” on the drop-down menu

Step 4: In the new pop-up window, select “Wireless Properties

Step 5: On Security tab, click to “Show characters” and you can see your Network security key.

2. Using Command Line to find your wifi password

2.1 Getting all saved Wifi passwords

Step 1: Search and Open PowerShell in Administrative Mode:

Step 2: Run the following command and you can see all the passwords saved in your PC:

(netsh wlan show profiles) | Select-String “\:(.+)$” | %{$name=$_.Matches.Groups[1].Value.Trim(); $_} | %{(netsh wlan show profile name=”$name” key=clear)} | Select-String “Key Content\W+\:(.+)$” | %{$pass=$_.Matches.Groups[1].Value.Trim(); $_} | %{[PSCustomObject]@{ PROFILE_NAME=$name;PASSWORD=$pass }} | Format-Table -AutoSize

2.1 Getting password of a specific wifi network

Step 1: Run the following command to list all the saved Wifi profiles in your PC:

netsh wlan show profiles

Step 2: Run the following command to get password of a specific Wifi profile:

netsh wlan show profile name=”network-name” key=clear

Note: Replace network-name by your network name that you want to find password.

You can find you Wifi password on Key Content field.

3. Find your Wifi password on windows 10 using third party tools

If you are not comfortable with Windows tools or you want an automation tool, you can find third party tools like WirelessKeyView:

Please note that although we are testing and writing about three methods to find your Wifi password on Windows 10 only, these methods can also be used for earlier versions of Windows like Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
